Bridge to Terabithia is a fabulous study of the use and application of the Imagination to solve problems. The book is firmly based in reality -- the DC area of the late 70s. It's a rural area with rural people.

I like how the story uses the Imagination as a kind of overlay on reality. Indeed, I would say that, because of the Imagination, you the audience can see the reality of the story in a deeper way -- that through Terabithia you can see reality in a deeper and sharper focus. The Imagination opens your eyes.
